A little bit about me

Hey,

I’m Marin, originally from Japan.
I settled in my ideal destination, the Netherlands, in 2020.

Moving to the Netherlands sparked something new in me. Surrounded by art and inspiration, I discovered just how creative I really am. It brought back memories of my childhood, when I loved making things and even won a few school art awards along the way.

Like many people, the COVID lockdown gave me time to explore new things. I built my first website and started blogging, and that’s when I realized: I had found my passion. Digital design captured me completely. I dove deep into the world of design and marketing, taking online courses like the Google Digital Marketing & E-commerce course and the Google UX Design course, just to name a few.

I believe that great design isn’t just about looking good — it’s about making things work better. From the shampoo bottle in your shower to the signs that guide us in emergencies, design plays a huge role in how we experience the world. And when design and content work together, they can do powerful things — like boost a brand, drive sales, or create something people truly connect with.

I’m enthusiastic about delving deeper into this dynamic industry, embracing new technologies, and continually expanding my knowledge. I want to use this immersive, ever-evolving field to create meaningful experiences and enrich people’s lives. This isn’t just work for me — it’s what I love to do.

” Design creates culture. Culture shapes values. Values determine the future. “

Other skills & Interests

🍣 Food

I love eating — food is definitely one of my biggest passions! I enjoy discovering new cuisines, but my absolute favorite is Japanese food. Since moving to the Netherlands, I’ve had to adapt a bit, as it’s not always easy to find the same dishes from home. That inspired me to start cooking for myself, and now I really enjoy preparing meals and sharing fun food moments with friends.

🌍 Travel

I love exploring new places and meeting people from all walks of life. Traveling opens my mind and feeds my curiosity — there are still so many places I’d love to visit! Every trip teaches me something new and helps me grow.

I also enjoy taking photos while I travel. I always try to capture the moment — not just for myself, but to share the experience with others who weren’t there. It’s a way for me to keep memories fresh and tell a little story through each image.
Here are some of the photos I’ve taken!

🏋️‍♀️ Sports

Staying active makes me feel great. I go to the gym regularly and enjoy mixing things up with activities like dance classes and playing table tennis with friends.

I also really appreciate more relaxing movement — especially yin yoga. It helps me release tension and feels like a reset for both body and mind. I used to struggle with soreness from intense workouts or long hours at the computer, but yin yoga has been one of the most effective ways to ease those aches and improve my posture. It’s become a regular part of my self-care routine.

🎶And More

I enjoy going to parties, festivals, and dancing — good music always lifts my mood and brings me joy. I’m also a huge fan of Studio Ghibli movies and their beautiful soundtracks. They’re my go-to for winding down and relaxing. One of the most magical experiences I’ve had was attending a live Ghibli concert conducted by Joe Hisaishi — it was unforgettable!

Spending time in nature is also very special to me — I come from a hometown surrounded by nature, so being outdoors makes me feel at peace! Since moving to the Netherlands, I’ve become more curious about new ways to stay active outside— like mountain biking, race biking, or even roller skating (which looks like such a fun and popular activity here!).

About website name

Yes,

Introducing MarinSun – where authenticity meets radiance. My company derives its name from my real name, Marin, written as 真凜 in Japanese, and it’s more than just a name; it means truth, pureness, genuineness, and dignity..

Now, why the “Sun”?

Firstly, I see the sun as a vital force in human existence. Its presence brings energy and vitality, much like the foundation of a business—the brand identity. I envision everyone feeling inspired and motivated when they encounter the colours of their brand.

Secondly, my love for the sun is as unwavering as that of most Earth citizens. It’s a symbol of positivity and warmth that resonates with me on a personal level.

Thirdly, in Japanese culture, there’s a beautiful term, ‘Hare onna,’ describing a woman who brings sunshine wherever she goes. In essence, I am a “hare onna,” and I want MarinSun to embody that same uplifting spirit.

Lastly, in keeping with Japanese business traditions, names are often followed by the honorific suffix ‘san,’ signifying respect and pronounced similarly to ‘sun’. Thus, MarinSun embraces this cultural touch, making it more than just a name—it’s an honorable reflection of our commitment to authenticity and connection ✨

This is how I decided my company name, playing with words, blending culture and personal values. Thank you for reading till the end and I look forward to connecting with you ☺︎
